Cannabis in HIV/AIDS Care: Symptom Management, Appetite, Pain and Quality of Life

  • 32 Steps

About

This intermediate continuing pharmacy education program examines the clinical role of cannabinoids in HIV/AIDS-related symptom management, including appetite loss, pain, nausea, sleep, and quality of life. It distinguishes THC, CBD, FDA-approved prescription cannabinoids, and retail cannabis products; reviews evidence limitations, adverse effects, and clinically relevant drug interactions; and reinforces that cannabinoids do not treat or cure HIV infection. Pharmacy professionals will practice nonjudgmental medication histories, identify patient-specific safety risks, and apply appropriate referral and scope-of-practice protocols.
